Through the Lens
Verónica & María

“Everyday women around the world are constantly changing and inspiring everyone they meet and greet. They hold such an importance, an irrefutable significance…”
Everyday women around the world are constantly changing and inspiring everyone they meet and greet. They hold such an importance, an irrefutable significance that it’s sad in some places like Mexico, women are constantly treated with disrespect and met with disdain and harm, yet there are some who are standing up and fighting against the problem.
Meet Verónica and María, two friends that are taking a stand against the violence against women in their home country. Verónica and María have been close friends since their early childhood days. Attending the same school and always trying to find time to spend with one another, it was apparent that they were becoming inseparable, developing a bond of sisterhood.
Verónica grew up surrounded by women. From her independent strong mother and grandmother to her inspiring older sisters, she has always had a plethora of role models. María however grew up in a small modest family with only her mother and father, but her mother, a civil lawyer instilled in her a drive, a longing to fix what is broken.
“When the two met, they became inseparable…”
When the two met, they became inseparable, and when the violence grew worse and worse against women in the country they acted in helping out in every way they could from marches and protests, to performing in awareness projects.
Verónica & María had always been talented with singing and playing guitar, and now they saw an opportunity to put those talents to good use. Crowds and crowds of people came to watch the performance, and with every soul present, became a soul touched by the power of their words.

This particular performance was put on in Guadalajara, Mexico to raise awareness to the constant growing problem that had been festering throughout the country. Verónica and María are just one of the many awe inspiring women that are constantly changing the world. The day women receive their recognition, is the day we take a step closer to a better world. ¡viva las mujeres !
