Through the Lens

"It's the people that make a place beautiful, a place worth traveling to. May their stories forever inspire us, open our minds, and change our hearts"

Halima

Strength and ‏ perseverance, qualities only found in select people that inhabit this world. This is Halima, the Bedouin grandmother who journeyed thousands of miles through harsh deserts and foreign lands in search of a new life. Halima was born in Tabuk Saudi Arabia. She spent the majority of her life in a small village on the outskirts of the city, raising a family of two beautiful daughters and one son.

Mohammed

Meet Mohammed, the Nubian man who shared an unbreakable bond with his father. Mohammed began his life in Aswan, a small city on the border between Egypt and Sudan. He was the only son of his father of the same name. Since he was a child he stood by his fathers side, becoming a part of his shadow.

Souleymane

Kindness. Something so simple, yet so powerful. Meet Souleymane, a man that exudes this quality. From the genuineness that pours from his smile to the gentle way he places his hand over his heart when he greets someone, he was truly someone to remember. I was just leaving the grand mosque of Touba, located just in the center of the city, when my eye caught the brightness of his turban. Colorful garments are quite common in Senegal, so seeing a man with a borderline florescent turban wasn’t uncommon.

Verónica & María

Meet Verónica and María, two friends that are taking a stand against the violence against women in their home country. Verónica and María have been close friends since their early childhood days. Verónica grew up surrounded by women.
